Gutter Service in Cheshire County, NH
Cheshire County is the far edge of our service area. The nearest town is about 52 miles and 1 hour 10 minutes from our Hampstead base by our estimate, and only Keene and the eastern towns fall inside our radius. Visits here are booked ahead and may be grouped with other nearby jobs, so call before the leaf drop or the first hard snow.

Cheshire County covers 23 municipalities in the southwest corner of New Hampshire, and we do not reach all of them. Our honest answer is Keene and the eastern towns, around the foot of Mount Monadnock. Everything else is a longer drive we would rather discuss first.
What sets Cheshire County apart
The county median home was built in 1972, and 73% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). Keene, the county seat and only city, brings older rentals and commercial blocks. The villages around it are older still, with mill-era houses beside lake homes from the 1980s.
The county covers 728.9 square miles with 35,612 housing units counted in 2020 (Wikipedia, 2020 Census). A Keene triple-decker and a Rindge lake home call for different first looks.

Hill snow around Monadnock
Mount Monadnock, at 3,165 feet in Jaffrey, is the county's high point. Hill towns around it are exposed to heavy snow and wind, which is hard on hangers and fascia. Hampstead gets about 53.8 inches of snow a year (BestPlaces), a useful baseline. Ice dams come from attic heat melting snow that refreezes at cold eaves, with or without gutters, and insulation and ventilation are the real fix.
Keene, at 479 feet, averages about 59.8 inches of snow a year (Wikipedia), and the summit of Monadnock stands 2,686 feet above it.
For these roofs, winter gutter protection and well-spaced hangers matter more than they do on a quiet inland lot.
Flood plains, flashing and where meltwater goes
Keene saw serious flooding in 1936, the 1938 hurricane and record rainfall in October 2005, and the Surry Mountain flood-control dam on the Ashuelot was completed in 1942 (Wikipedia). Valley houses sit low, so roof water shows up in basements first when a downspout empties against the wall.
Steep gables, chimneys and porch roofs add a second path. Snowmelt can run down a wall at the flashing and drip behind the gutter, so a leak that looks like a gutter fault may start above it. We check both, and gutter flashing repair is where that leads. A buried drain line needs Dig Safe called first.
Towns in the Monadnock Region we cover
- Keene, the city, with prewar rentals and brick commercial buildings
- Swanzey, south of Keene along the Ashuelot River, with low ground that holds water
- Rindge, lake and pine country where needles fill gutters fast
- Jaffrey, the village below the mountain
- Troy, an old woolen mill village where repair often beats replacement

Mill villages, lake homes and the county's landmarks
Cheshire County was founded in 1769 and organized at Keene in 1771. Two Keene mills, Beaver Mills and the Faulkner and Colony Woolen Mill, are on the National Register of Historic Places, a reminder of how much brick and old timber frame still stands here.
Two housing types dominate outside Keene. In the mill villages, such as Troy, older wood-frame houses often need repair before full replacement, so a gutter repair visit can go a long way. Around the lakes in Rindge, pine cover drops needles into the trough, and gutter cleaning or guards earn their keep.

Permits and town offices across 23 municipalities
New Hampshire handles permits town by town, and Cheshire County has 23 municipalities, each with its own office. Keene's Community Development department issues building permits for the city. Whether routine gutter replacement needs a permit is something we could not confirm, so ask your town office before work starts.
How a Monadnock trip gets booked
Cheshire County is a long drive from our base, from about 52 miles for the nearest town to about 70 for Keene. We book visits ahead and may group yours with other jobs nearby, which means some lead time. We cannot say we have worked in any of these towns. What we can do is look over the roofline, measure the runs, check the fascia and give you a written price.
Keene's commercial buildings and larger multi-unit properties can ask about commercial gutters. Everything else starts at our main gutter service page.

Gutter questions from Cheshire County
Which parts of Cheshire County do you serve for gutter work?
We plan around Keene and the eastern side of the county, including Rindge, Jaffrey, Troy and Swanzey. The county has 23 municipalities across 728.9 square miles, and towns along the Connecticut River and the Vermont line, such as Walpole and Hinsdale, are farther still. If your town is not listed, call and we will tell you plainly whether we can reach it.
How long do Cheshire County gutter visits take to book?
Longer than near Hampstead. The nearest Cheshire County town is about 52 miles from our base, so we book ahead and may group your visit with other jobs in the area. Call before the fall leaf drop or the first hard snow, and we will set the earliest visit we can.
Do hill towns in Cheshire County need different gutters?
Often they need sturdier hanging, not different gutters. Steep roofs and heavy snow loads pull on spacing, hangers and fascia, and Keene alone averages about 59.8 inches of snow a year. Ask any installer about hanger spacing and whether snow guards make sense. We assess each roof in person and give a written price.
Services in Cheshire County
- Gutter Service
The main gutter service page covers installation, replacement and cleaning, and is the place to begin when you are unsure whether a tired Cheshire County run needs fixing or replacing.
- Winter Gutter Protection
Keene averages about 59.8 inches of snow a year. Snow guards, close hanger spacing and sound fascia keep a gutter on the house through a Monadnock Region winter.
- Gutter Repair
Mill-village and prewar houses often need a seam resealed, a sagging run re-pitched or a few hangers reset before anyone talks about replacing the whole system.
- Gutter Flashing & Apron Repair
Where steep gables and chimneys meet walls, snowmelt finds weak flashing. A leak that looks like a gutter problem can start above it, so we check both.
- Commercial Gutters
Keene's brick blocks and multi-unit properties put a lot of roof over a few outlets, so send the roof details early and we can plan a booked trip around them.
- Gutter Cleaning
Lake and hill homes under white pines pack needles into the trough and elbows. Fall cleaning after needle drop is easiest to book before the calendar fills.
- Gutter Maintenance Plans
A scheduled visit suits owners far from our base. Landlords and lake-home owners can plan one trip a year instead of waiting for a clog to become an emergency.
