Lamprey River floodplain meadow with houses and a retail roofline in the distance in Epping

Gutter Service in Epping, NH

Epping is about 20 minutes from our Hampstead base by our estimate, 16 miles, and it is where Route 125 meets the Route 101 freeway at a retail interchange. That gives the town big commercial roofs on one side and Lamprey River homes on the other, and we cover both. Epping drains toward the Lamprey, so where each downspout empties matters as much as the gutter.

Two roof types at one interchange

Epping has the Route 101 and Route 125 interchange, and Brickyard Square retail sits right at it. Retail roofs are wide and low, with long gutter runs that empty through a handful of downspouts. If one fills with grit from the parking lot or leaves, water backs up along the whole eave and spills over the doors.

How big a roof one downspout can serve

Sizing matters most on wide roofs. A common sizing chart rates a 5-inch K-style gutter for about 5,520 square feet of roof and a 6-inch for about 7,960, at one inch of rain per hour. Heavier rain or a steep pitch lowers those numbers. A downspout should also serve no more than about 50 feet of gutter run (SMACNA). On a plaza, that means more outlets than most owners expect.

For a business, the first question is where each outlet sends water. A downspout that crosses a walkway becomes an ice patch in January. Our commercial gutter work starts with a walk of the roof edge, a count of outlets and a written price. A scheduled cleaning before the first freeze usually costs less than a mid-winter fix.

Epping homes on the Lamprey River side

Away from the interchange, Epping is mostly owner-occupied homes. The median home was built in 1989 and 86% are lived in by their owners (ACS 2020-24). Homes of that age are on their original gutters or the first replacement, and the usual trouble is hangers pulling loose and seams opening.

The Lamprey River also runs through town, and the federally declared floods of May 2006 and April 2007 hit Rockingham County. Houses on low ground near the river start every storm with wet soil. A gutter system should not add to that. We aim downspouts away from foundation corners and use extensions where the lot is flat.

Clay ground and a river that has flooded

Epping sits on clay deposits that supported brickmaking from 1840, and clay holds water. Add the Lamprey and Piscassic rivers, and ground near the water is often wet before a storm even starts. The town's elevation is about 157 feet, and it tops out at 472 feet on Kennard Hill in the northwest corner, so much of it is low ground that sheds roof water slowly. We look at the lay of each lot before we price outlets and extensions, and we tell you if the fix is more downspout rather than more gutter.

Services Epping properties ask about most

Downspout discharge pooling in a saturated yard after heavy rain

Main Street, Route 27 and the village center

Away from the interchange, Epping's older center runs along Main Street and Route 27, with the historical society museum, the Harvey-Mitchell Memorial Library and the Leddy Center for the Performing Arts. Where a roof sits close to the street, access matters more than footage. We ask where a ladder can stand and where each downspout can drain before we quote.

From Hampstead to Epping

We drive about 16 miles, and we keep the visit simple. Send the address and describe the roof. For a home, we measure the runs and check fascia and hangers. For a commercial roof, we want access, tenants and hours. Then you get a written price.

Epping sits beside Raymond and Fremont, so we can often group nearby calls. See the full list of towns we cover in Rockingham County.

What customers say

“Caio came out promptly to look at our 30,000 square foot commercial building in Plaistow and provided an estimate that evening. He came back a week later and did a wonderful job cleaning all of the gutters.”

“We had a gutter put on to help divert rain from a rotting window. Company was responsive and came up with a solution to fix the entire problem rather than put a band aid on it.”

Gutter questions from Epping

Do you handle commercial roofs near the Route 101 and 125 interchange in Epping?

Yes, we clean and repair gutters on commercial buildings, including a 30,000 square foot Plaistow building that a customer reviewed. Long retail roofs send water to few downspouts, so we check each outlet. Send the roof type, the access and your hours, and we will write a price after a look.

Why do Epping houses near the Lamprey River have water in the basement after storms?

Often it is a mix of groundwater and roof water. Federal disasters in 2006 and 2007 hit Rockingham County and the Lamprey flooded Epping. Gutters only manage roof water, but downspouts that empty at the foundation make wet basements worse. Move the discharge several feet out first.

How far is Epping from your Hampstead base?

About 16 miles, roughly 20 minutes by our estimate. Route 125 traffic near the interchange can slow that. If you call with the address and what you see, we will say when we can fit in an Epping visit and group it with nearby work where we can.

Can Epping gutters be cleaned on a schedule instead of waiting for a clog?

Yes. Ask us about a yearly cleaning timed after leaf drop. In Epping that usually means late fall, before the ground freezes and before wet snow loads the eaves. We will agree the timing around your hours if it is a business, and quote the visit in writing.
