Gutter Service in Newmarket, NH

Gutter service in Newmarket, NH covers two kinds of roof, the big old mill buildings beside the Lamprey River and the village homes around them. We reach the town from our Hampstead base in roughly 30 minutes by our estimate, about 23 miles, and book those trips ahead. Roof water here lands on low, wet ground, so we look hard at where each downspout empties.

Gutters beside the Lamprey River mills

The Lamprey River runs through the middle of Newmarket. The old mill district beside it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Newmarket Industrial and Commercial Historic District, and the first mill there dates to 1823. Buildings that large send a lot of roof water to a few downspouts. When one clogs, water finds the nearest wall.

Flooding here is not a hypothetical. Federally declared disasters in May 2006 and April 2007 hit Rockingham County, and the Lamprey flooded Newmarket. Gutters cannot hold back a river. What they can do is keep roof runoff from piling onto saturated ground, which means downspouts that discharge well away from the foundation and extensions that are not crushed or blocked.

Rentals, condos and who makes the call

Newmarket's median home was built in 1983, but only 53% of homes are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). That leaves close to half of occupied homes rented. The person ordering gutter work is often a landlord, a manager or a condo board, and they need clear paperwork.

We quote in writing with run lengths and parts listed, so a manager can approve the work from a distance. For multi-unit and mixed-use buildings, a yearly commercial gutter cleaning before winter keeps tenants from calling about overflow at the front door.

Great Bay, the Piscassic and low ground

Newmarket sits 39 feet above sea level beside Great Bay, and 1.6 of its 14.2 square miles are water. Its highest point, Bald Hill, reaches only 281 feet. With so little slope, roof water leaving a downspout has few places to go but across the lawn or down beside the foundation. The Lamprey and its tributary, the Piscassic, keep the ground wet in spring. A downspout that empties at a basement wall on that kind of ground is how a gutter system ends up adding to a damp cellar. We extend each outlet well clear of the house.

Tight village lots and where the water lands

Older village houses sit close together, often with a few feet between the eave and the neighbor's fence. Two problems follow. A downspout that ends at the corner of the house has nowhere to go, and a long run with no mid-span hanger sags once leaves and wet snow pile up. We look at where each downspout can discharge before we price a new run, and we space hangers closely on any long span.

Route 108 and the town center

NH Route 108 crosses Newmarket, and the compact center around it holds the mill district, the library, Schanda Park and the Stone School Museum. Jobs in a center like this are tight. A ladder may have to stand on a sidewalk or a neighbor's strip of lawn, and a downspout can share a wall with the next building. We ask about access, parking and neighbors when you call, so the visit does not stall at the curb.

Booking a visit from 23 miles away

Newmarket is farther than our home towns, so we book trips ahead and may group your visit with other jobs nearby, such as in Durham or Stratham. Call with the address and what you are seeing. On site we walk the eave, measure each run and press on the fascia, then send the written price.

Newmarket is one of the towns we cover across Rockingham County. The town is within reach of our crew, and we will tell you plainly when a visit needs to be booked a few days out.

What customers say

“Caio came out promptly to look at our 30,000 square foot commercial building in Plaistow and provided an estimate that evening. He came back a week later and did a wonderful job cleaning all of the gutters.”

Gutter questions from Newmarket

Do you clean and repair gutters on apartment and mixed-use buildings in Newmarket?

Commercial buildings are work we take on, from cleaning to seam repair. A Plaistow customer reviewed a 30,000 square foot building where we cleaned the gutters and then repaired seams. Send us the Newmarket address, roof type and how we reach the eaves, and we will write a price after we look.

Can gutters protect my Newmarket home from Lamprey River flooding?

No. Gutters handle roof water, not river water. They can still keep roof runoff from adding to a wet foundation, so downspouts should discharge several feet from the house. If your lot floods from the river, talk to the town about flood zones as well.

Who approves gutter work on a rental home in Newmarket?

The property owner or their manager. About 47% of Newmarket occupied homes are rented (ACS 2020-24), so we often quote to a landlord or association. We give a written price listing the footage and parts, which a manager can approve without being on site.

How long does it take to get from Hampstead to Newmarket for a gutter visit?

About 30 minutes by our estimate, roughly 23 miles. Because Newmarket is farther out, we book visits ahead and may line yours up with other nearby jobs. Tell us on the call if there is damage that cannot wait, and we will set the earliest visit we can.
