Wooded lakeside neighborhood of small year-round homes in Barnstead, New Hampshire under tall pines and oaks

Gutter Service in Barnstead, NH

We cover Barnstead from our Hampstead base, roughly 55 minutes and 40 miles away by our estimate. Much of the town's housing sits in Locke Lake Colony, a wooded lake community of small lots under tall trees, so gutter work here is mostly about leaves, needles and where roof water can go when the neighbor is close. Trips this far are booked ahead.

Barnstead is a town of 5,036 people in the middle of Belknap County, and its lake community shapes most of the gutter questions we expect. The median home was built in 1985, and 94% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24).

Locke Lake Colony lots and the trees above them

Locke Lake is a 149-acre lake ringed by the Colony, and it has no public access. Halfmoon Lake, which Barnstead shares with Alton, feeds it. The houses around these two lakes sit on modest lots, with oak, maple and pine reaching over the roofs.

That tree cover does most of the damage. Wet oak leaves and pine needles pack into the trough and the downspout elbows, a clogged run overflows at its lowest point, and the overflow lands beside the foundation. Homes from the mid-1980s are also at the age where original hangers loosen and seams dry out.

What Barnstead homes tend to need first

Water on a tight lot

With houses close together, a downspout that dumps beside the foundation sends water toward a neighbor's yard or onto the road shoulder. We look at each outlet and plan the extension so the water has somewhere sensible to go. If your lot falls under association rules, check them before you change a gutter color or the way a downspout runs.

Booking a Barnstead trip from Hampstead

This is a long drive, and we will not pretend otherwise. Visits are booked ahead, and we may line yours up with other work in nearby Alton or Gilmanton so the trip makes sense. Call before leaf drop instead of after it. We look at the roofline, measure the runs and give you a written price.

NH 28, NH 126 and the other villages

Barnstead covers about 45 square miles, and the Census puts only 1.9 of them, 4.2%, in water. The rest is wooded land, which is why trees, not shoreline, set most of the work. NH 28 runs north to south through town, and NH 126 starts at NH 28 and runs through the village toward Strafford. Lots outside the Colony may be larger, which can mean a longer roofline and an outlet farther from the road.

Center Barnstead is the largest village, though it is unincorporated. If your lot has a septic system, ask where the leach field sits before any downspout extension is run, and keep roof water away from it.

Beyond the Colony

Barnstead also has Center Barnstead, Barnstead Parade and South Barnstead. Whichever village you are in, tell us the address and what the gutters are doing. We cover the whole town as part of Belknap County.

What customers say

“He called me on Tuesday to tell me that there is rain expected and he would like to move the job up to Wednesday (today). I thought that was very professional of him to reach out and reschedule.”

Gutter questions from Barnstead

Do you take gutter jobs inside Locke Lake Colony in Barnstead?

Yes, the Colony is inside the area we cover, about 40 miles from Hampstead. Because it is a long trip, we book Barnstead visits ahead and may group them with other jobs nearby. When you call, give us the number of stories, how close the trees are to the roof and anything that limits where we can set a ladder.

Do tight Barnstead lots change where a downspout should empty?

They do. On a small lot there is often little room between your foundation and the next house, so we look at where each outlet drains before we quote. A longer extension or a different outlet corner usually matters more than a bigger gutter, and we put what we find in a written price.

Does Barnstead's wooded land mean more frequent gutter cleaning?

Usually, yes. Barnstead is about 45 square miles with only 4.2% water, so most lots are tree land, not open shore. Oak leaves in fall and pine needles year round fill troughs on a short cycle. We book Barnstead trips ahead, so tell us how close the canopy is when you call.
