Large two-story home on a wooded hillside lot with long gutter runs in Bow

Gutter Service in Bow, NH

Bow has large newer homes on wooded hillsides south of Concord, and big roofs under tall trees are a different gutter job from a small cape. We cover Bow from Hampstead, about 29 miles and roughly 40 minutes by our estimate, with visits booked ahead. Picked Hill rises to 915 feet in the south of town, so many roofs sit on slopes where water has far to run.

Big roofs, tall trees and Bow Junction

Bow sits south of Concord at Bow Junction, where I-93 meets the start of I-89 and Route 3A. The Merrimack River forms its northeastern border, and Merrimack Station, a coal-fired plant on the river, stopped commercial operations in September 2025. Away from the highways, the housing is large, newer and wooded: median build year 1985, 87% owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24).

Large multi-gable roof with valleys feeding long gutter runs

Those roofs are not small. A large house with several gables and valleys sends a lot of water into a few stretches of gutter, and tall oaks and maples add leaf fall on top. The two questions on any Bow job are size and access.

Gutter size on a multi-gable house

A 5-inch K-style gutter is rated for about 5,520 square feet of roof at one inch of rain per hour. A 6-inch is rated for about 7,960, which is roughly 44% more capacity. Heavy rain and steep roofs lower both. One review, from Mustafa J., describes "6 inch gutters on my entire home."

That is a review, not a promise about your roof. We measure the roof area, count the valleys and decide the size from that. For a hillside house with a steep pitch, a bigger trough and an extra downspout can matter more than a prettier gutter. A downspout should serve no more than about 50 feet of run (SMACNA).

Leaf fall and cleaning at height

The heavy leaf fall on Bow's wooded hillsides lands on roofs that are tall and steep. A two-story gutter cleaning takes more time than a ranch, and we plan it that way. Cleaning after leaf drop, before the first freeze, is the best timing.

Where the water goes on a hillside

On a sloped lot, the downspout on the downhill corner is easy and the uphill one is not. Water from the uphill side runs toward the house if it lands at the foundation. We look at the grade before we place each outlet and add extensions or run a downspout around a corner when the ground calls for it. On a large house, that planning matters as much as the gutter size.

Picked Hill, Bow Mills and the river side

Bow's high point, Picked Hill, is 915 feet, and Wood Hill and Brown Hill also pass 900 feet, so much of the town is hilly. Villages include Bow Mills, Bow Center and Bow Bog, and the Merrimack River marks the northeastern border. On a hill, roof water leaves a downspout and keeps moving. It can run along a drive, across a lawn toward a neighbor or into a low corner by the foundation. We read the grade for each outlet and we say plainly when a long extension or a second downspout will do more than a bigger gutter.

Town Hall, the high school and Turee Pond

Bow Town Hall dates to 1847, and Bow High School opened in 1997 beside Turee Pond, off White Rock Hill Road. Bow Memorial School and Bow Elementary School are nearby. Ask Bow Town Hall whether your gutter job needs a permit, since permits are handled town by town, and call Dig Safe before any digging for a buried downspout line.

Getting to Bow from Hampstead

Bow is about 29 miles away, so trips are booked ahead and may be grouped with other nearby jobs, for example in Pembroke or Hooksett. We walk the roofline, measure the runs, check hangers and fascia and give you a written price. Bow is also in Merrimack County, along with Concord just to the north.

What customers say

“He called me on Tuesday to tell me that there is rain expected and he would like to move the job up to Wednesday (today). I thought that was very professional of him to reach out and reschedule.”

Gutter questions from Bow

Why do large Bow homes on hillsides need bigger gutters?

Big roofs collect more rain, and steep pitches move it faster. By the usual sizing chart, a 5-inch K-style gutter tops out near 5,520 square feet of roof and a 6-inch near 7,960, for one inch of rain an hour. A multi-gable hillside house can pass the 5-inch limit.

Can you clean gutters on a tall Bow house with a steep roof?

Yes, though a steep or tall roof takes more time and planning. Tell us the height, the pitch and what is overhead. We price the visit after we know the length of the runs and the height of the eaves. We book Bow visits ahead, then confirm a date by phone before we come.

How far is Bow from your Hampstead base?

About 29 miles, roughly 40 minutes by our estimate. We book visits to Bow ahead and may combine them with nearby jobs in Hooksett or Pembroke. Call with your address and what you see and we will name the earliest visit we can.
