Gutter Service in Pembroke, NH

Three in ten Pembroke homes were built before 1940, and the median home dates to 1969. We cover the town from Hampstead, about 28 miles and roughly 40 minutes by our estimate, and the older Main Street houses are where most of the repair work sits. Three rivers, the Merrimack, Soucook and Suncook, bound the town, so water is never far from a Pembroke lot.

Pembroke's pre-1940 houses and their trim

Pembroke's age profile is the story. Thirty percent of homes were built before 1940 (ACS 2020-24), and the median home dates to 1969. That is a lot of old wood. On a house from the 1930s, the part of the eave that fails first is often not the gutter. It is the fascia, the board the gutter hangs from, which has been wet for decades.

When we look at a Pembroke house like that, we check the board before we price anything. Soft wood will not hold a hanger. Gutter repair can fix a loose run on sound wood, and fascia and trim replacement is the right step when the board is gone.

Main Street houses and the newer subdivisions

Pembroke Academy, founded in 1818, anchors the town, and the Suncook River's mills shaped its older neighborhoods. Beyond them, outlying subdivisions hold newer homes. Two thirds of homes are owner-occupied (67%, ACS 2020-24), so rentals mix in with owner-occupied houses and some repairs are ordered by a landlord.

For subdivision homes, the usual issues are different: seams that have opened after a few winters, hangers set too far apart and downspouts that discharge at the foundation. A fast inspection tells you which type of house you have. We walk the eave, press the fascia, check each hanger and look at the downspout outlets, then write down what we found. If we spot a second problem beyond the one you called about, you hear about it before any work starts.

Services most Pembroke homes ask about

Three rivers and Plausawa Hill

The Merrimack River forms Pembroke's southwest border, the Soucook runs along the northwest, and the Suncook marks the southeast. Plausawa Hill reaches 1,000 feet in the north. On a low lot by a river or on a slope near the hill, a downspout that empties at the wall pushes water toward the foundation. We read the lay of the lot before we price outlets, and we tell you when a longer extension will do more than any other change. Gutters cannot stop river flooding, only keep roof water from adding to it.

US 3, the academy and the schools

US 3, US 4, US 202, NH 28 and NH 106 all cross Pembroke, and so does I-393. Pembroke Academy, founded in 1818, serves the high school years, while younger children attend the Hill School and Three Rivers School. Give us a nearby landmark when you call, and tell us whether your house is in the village or an outlying neighborhood, since the two get different visits.

Getting a Pembroke visit on the calendar

Pembroke is about 28 miles from our base. We book visits ahead and may group them with other calls in Epsom or Bow. We walk the roofline, measure the runs and check hangers and fascia. You get a written price.

The Suncook mill village sits on the Pembroke and Allenstown line, and it has its own page: see Suncook and Allenstown. All three are part of Merrimack County.

What customers say

“He did such a great job we asked him to do some repair work on some of the seams. He came back a couple days later and completed that job wonderfully as well.”

“Caio was professional and courteous. He spotted multiple things that were wrong with our gutters beyond what we knew about and performed the repair promptly at an excellent price.”

Gutter questions from Pembroke

Do older Pembroke houses need the fascia fixed before new gutters go up?

Often. A house built before 1940 can have trim that has been wet for decades. New gutter on soft wood will not hold, so we check the board first and tell you if it needs replacing. If the wood is sound, we reset hangers and reseal seams instead.

What is the difference between your Pembroke and Suncook village pages?

Suncook is the mill village shared by Pembroke and Allenstown, with dense older blocks. This page is for Pembroke as a whole, from Main Street houses to outlying subdivisions. If you are in the village, see our Suncook page. We cover both, and the process is the same.

How far is Pembroke from Hampstead, and when can you come?

About 28 miles, roughly 40 minutes by our estimate. Pembroke is a trip out, so we book visits ahead and may combine them with nearby calls in Bow or Epsom. Tell us the street and what the gutter is doing, and we will name the earliest visit we can.

How do I know if my Pembroke house has rotten fascia behind the gutter?

Look for peeling paint on the board, dark stains below the gutter and hangers that have pulled free. Push a screwdriver tip gently into the board. If it sinks in, the wood is soft. Call us before you hang anything new, and we will check it and tell you plainly what the repair needs.
