Gutter Service in Hooksett, NH

Hooksett is the first Merrimack County town on our route, about 22 miles and roughly 30 minutes from Hampstead by our estimate. Newer retail around the I-93 interchanges and growing subdivisions near the old village put large commercial roofs and newer homes in the same town. Hooksett covers 37 square miles along the river, climbing to 902 feet at Quimby Mountain near the western border.

Gutters on the Merrimack River between two cities

Hooksett sits on the Merrimack River between Manchester and Concord, and Interstate 93 runs through the middle with interchanges at Route 3, Route 3A and Hackett Hill Road. That mix of river, highway and growth shapes the work. Retail buildings near the interchanges bring long roofs, and subdivisions around the old village bring newer homes.

Gutter service for I-93 retail roofs

Wide, low roofs funnel water to a few outlets, so a commercial gutters plan starts with counting downspouts and checking where they discharge. On a retail strip, an outlet that empties across a walkway turns to ice in January. We ask about access, tenants and hours before we price any visit. Long runs also need enough downspouts. About 50 feet of gutter per downspout is the practical limit (SMACNA), so a 200-foot roof edge needs at least four outlets, and more if the roof is steep or the rain heavy.

Newer subdivision homes and bigger roofs

Hooksett's median home was built in 1988, and 81% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). Recent subdivisions add larger roofs with more valleys and dormers. That raises two questions. How much roof area does each downspout serve? And is a 5-inch gutter big enough?

A 5-inch K-style gutter is rated for about 5,520 square feet of roof at one inch of rain per hour, and a 6-inch for about 7,960. Steep roofs and heavy rain lower those numbers. One customer, Mustafa J., wrote that we installed "6 inch gutters on my entire home," which is the kind of job a large roof may call for. We size every gutter installation from the roof, not from habit.

Pitch on long runs

A common rule of thumb is a drop of about a quarter inch for every 10 feet of gutter toward the downspout. Over a 60-foot retail eave, that is about an inch and a half of fall, and a hanger that has let go erases it. Water then stands in the low spot, freezes there in January and drags the hanger further. If your gutter holds water after rain stops, the problem is pitch, not clogging, and cleaning alone will not fix it.

Martins Corner, Rowes Corner and the river towns

Hooksett has several villages, including Hooksett, Martins Corner, Rowes Corner and South Hooksett, and the Merrimack River runs through town, with I-93, US 3, NH 3A and NH 28 as the main routes. Public schools in town include Fred C. Underhill School, Hooksett Memorial School and David R. Cawley Middle School. Tell us the village or landmark with your address so we can plan the route.

What customers say

“He called me on Tuesday to tell me that there is rain expected and he would like to move the job up to Wednesday (today). I thought that was very professional of him to reach out and reschedule.”

Gutter questions from Hooksett

Do you handle both commercial roofs and homes in Hooksett?

Yes. We clean and repair gutters on commercial buildings and install, clean and repair them on homes. Hooksett has retail near I-93 and subdivision homes, so we ask about roof type, access and size first. A written price follows after we have measured the runs.

Should a new Hooksett subdivision home get six-inch gutters?

Often it is worth asking. The sizing chart puts a 5-inch gutter near 5,520 square feet of roof and a 6-inch near 7,960, at one inch of rain an hour. Large roofs with several valleys can overwhelm a 5-inch run, so we run the numbers on your roof area.

How long does the drive from Hampstead to Hooksett take?

About 22 miles, roughly 30 minutes by our estimate, with I-93 traffic setting the range. Because Hooksett is a trip out, we book visits ahead and may group them with other calls in Bow or Candia. We will set the earliest visit we can once we have your address.

Can you clean the gutters on a Hooksett retail building without disrupting customers?

We plan around your hours. Send the building size, roof access and the times that are quietest, and we will agree a window before the visit. A yearly cleaning after leaf drop clears the downspouts before winter. We give a written price once we know the length of the runs.
