On this page
Hopkinton is a big, varied town, and it helps to know how it divides. The town's own history page describes three areas: Hopkinton itself, mainly residential; West Hopkinton, the agricultural center; and Contoocook Village, the business hub. This page is for the first two and the rural lots around them.
Rural lots beyond Interstate 89
Interstate 89 runs through town, and the NH 9 interchange gives access to the village. Past the highway the lots get larger and the homes more spread out, with more trees over the roofs. The median Hopkinton home was built in 1968, and 87% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24), so many homes are on gutters that are decades old. A gutter hung in the 1980s or earlier is often asking for repair or replacement, and we say which when we see it.
34% of homes here predate 1940, and many of those are farmhouses with attached ells and barns. A single house can carry several roof sections, inside corners and a long eave. Water tends to find the same corner every storm, and an inside corner that is not sealed will leak every time.

Seamless runs for long Hopkinton eaves
- Seamless gutters are cut to length, so a long farmhouse eave has fewer joints to leak.
- Gutter repair is the answer where only a corner or a stretch has failed.
- Winter gutter protection matters on open lots, where wind loads snow onto a roof edge and it slides in one piece.
- Snow guards can hold that snow back above a door or a drive.

Two rivers, a hilltop and a lot of land
Hopkinton has 43.30 square miles of land and 1.79 of water, and the Contoocook and Warner Rivers drain it. The town sits at about 515 feet, and Shaker Hill on the Henniker line reaches 923. That means lots of different exposures. A house on the river flats in West Hopkinton, near Rowell's Covered Bridge over the Contoocook, has a different water problem from one on a hilltop. The first wants downspouts carried well away from the foundation. The second takes the wind, and the snow that goes with it.
Fall cleaning slots fill up, and with a 41-mile trip, a call in September is easier to place than one in November.
Hopkinton village and St. Andrew's Church
Hopkinton village is the old center, with a historical marker near the front of St. Andrew's Church. Older houses around a village center are where we look hardest at fascia and trim, because years of moisture show there first. We check the board before quoting any run.

Gutter questions from Hopkinton
Do you cover all of Hopkinton, NH or only the village?
We cover the whole town, from Hopkinton village to West Hopkinton and the rural roads beyond Interstate 89. The town describes itself as three distinct areas, so tell us which one you are in. Contoocook village has its own page here. Visits to Hopkinton are booked ahead and may be grouped with nearby work.
Do long farmhouse rooflines need special gutters in Hopkinton?
They need planning. A farmhouse with an ell or an attached barn can have several roof sections and inside corners, and each corner sheds water to one spot. We measure every run, decide where the downspouts go, and quote seamless gutters cut to length, so a long eave carries fewer seams.
Services in Hopkinton
- Copper Gutters
Copper is a traditional match for historic village houses and costs more than aluminum. We cannot confirm it as a service we list, so call and ask before planning around it.
- Seamless Gutters
Farmhouses with ells and attached barns carry long eaves across several roof sections. Runs cut to length leave seams only at corners and outlets, where inside corners are sealed and checked.
- Gutter Repair
Water finds the same inside corner on a farmhouse every storm. Where only a corner or a stretch has failed, we reseal or rehang it and quote the fix on its own.
- Fascia & Trim Replacement
About 34 percent of homes here predate 1940, and village trim has taken years of moisture. We press the board behind the gutter first, and replace it before anything new is hung.
- Winter Gutter Protection
Open lots let wind load snow onto a roof edge, and it can slide in one slab. Hangers and fascia that held last winter should be checked before the next heavy storm.
- Snow Guards
Snow guards hold a slab back above a door, a walk or a driveway. On a long farmhouse roof they matter most over the entry, since falling ice can seriously hurt someone.
- Gutter Replacement
With a median build year of 1968, many homes are on gutters that are decades old. Replacement takes the old system down first and prices new footage, corners and downspouts in writing.
