Antique white village house with detailed trim in Wakefield, New Hampshire under bare maples with early snow on the lawn

Gutter Service in Wakefield, NH

Wakefield has a hilltop village of antique buildings and lake communities under heavy pine, and the two ask different things of a gutter. We cover the town from Hampstead, about 1 hour 25 minutes and 62 miles by our estimate, with trips booked ahead and grouped with other lake-side work where we can. Wakefield is one of our longer drives, so call early in the season.

Wakefield Corner is the town's original center, a hilltop village of antique buildings. The railroad moved the center of town to Sanbornville in 1871, and the rest of Wakefield is lakes and pines.

Antique trim and the gutter line

The Wakefield Village Historic District has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1984. An antique building has painted wood trim, a deep cornice and sometimes a roof edge that was never made for a modern gutter. The first job is to look at what the gutter hangs from. Attaching a new run to tired wood only moves the problem.

If your house sits inside the district, ask the town about exterior changes before work starts. Whether routine gutter replacement needs a permit is something each town decides, and we cannot confirm it for you. Tell us the age of the house when you call, and we will work around what the town says.

Province Lake, Lovell Lake and the pines

Province Lake sits in the northernmost part of Wakefield and Lovell Lake in the south-central part, and Sanbornville, the main settlement, is where Lovell Lake drains west. The median home here dates to 1980, and 97% are owner-occupied (ACS 2020-24). Many lake lots are tucked under dense pine, and needles lodge in the downspout elbows.

Camps and cabins here may be used for only part of the year. Tell us when yours is open and who can meet us, and we will plan the visit around it. A cabin with a short run and a low eave still collects everything the pines above it drop.

Seven villages and a lake on the Maine line

Wakefield covers about 45 square miles, and 5.3 of them are water (Census figures). The town is several villages, not one center: Wakefield Corner, East Wakefield, North Wakefield, Sanbornville, Union, Woodman and Province Lake. Province Lake, about 968 acres, sits on the Maine border. NH 153 runs through East Wakefield and meets NH 16 just north of Union, so lakes and village streets are spread over a lot of ground.

That spread is why we ask for the village as well as the street. A hilltop antique house at the Corner and a cabin by Province Lake need different plans, and a visit to both may mean two separate stops on one trip.

Scheduling out to Wakefield

Wakefield is one of our longer drives. Trips here are booked ahead, and we may pair yours with work in Wolfeboro, Alton or Tuftonboro. We will not promise a fast response. We set the earliest visit we can. A written price comes after we have seen the roof.

The town is covered as part of Carroll County.

What customers say

“He called me on Tuesday to tell me that there is rain expected and he would like to move the job up to Wednesday (today). I thought that was very professional of him to reach out and reschedule.”

Gutter questions from Wakefield

Do you work on old houses in the Wakefield Corner historic district?

We cover Wakefield and will look at an antique house, but we cannot say what a historic district allows. Ask the town before you change exterior trim or gutter style, because permits are handled town by town. When you call, tell us the age of the house and what the trim looks like, and we will write the price.

Is Wakefield too far for a small gutter repair?

Not too far, but it takes planning. Wakefield is about 62 miles from Hampstead, so a small repair is booked ahead and may be grouped with other jobs nearby. If you have two or three small items, such as a loose run and a downspout, tell us in one call so one visit covers them.

Does Province Lake's Maine border change whether you can come out?

We cover the New Hampshire side of Wakefield. Province Lake is about 968 acres and sits on the state line, so confirm which side your address is on when you call. A New Hampshire address is booked ahead from Hampstead, about 62 miles away, and we will tell you plainly if one is outside our range.
